e-slather reviews

Capital of Nasty Electronic Magazine

My bottom line: thumbs up!

My first letter from Capital of Nasty described the "Infinite Monkey Theorem." Basically, if you put an infinite number of monkeys in front of typewriters, one is bound to pound out the full text of Shakespeare's Hamlet. I don't know if this is to CoN's credit or not, but it does lend a good amount of gumption to this review.

CoN is an e-zine times two: it's a web-based zine (a .org site no less!) that is also published over e-mail. Kudos there for distribution balls and savvy. Lo-fi all the way, and damn they leave www.suck.com forever leaning forward in further attempts at masturbation. As a number of well-established celebrities would (should? do?) say, "MMMM, them balls are good!"

Most e-zines to this point have either made me chuckle or made me question my motives in producing an e-zine review site. This site would have been a find if the editor wouldn't have mailed me the URL. As Daniel Boorstin would say (in paraphrase), it was an unintentional "discovery."

Their latest issue contains "reviews" of "The Lost World" (the "Jurassic Park" sequel) which hit the spot better than a hotdog on your non-vegetarian day and an overly long, but beautiful-in- the-concept, list of movies with goats. Would make any turn-of-the- century frat-boy jealous.

As for design, they use 2 &nbsp tags to indent their paragraphs. As Weezer would say, "How cool is that?" I leave that question as rhetorical.

If this hasn't convinced you of their attitude, they also give out a "Golden Testicles" award. As Kool Moe Dee would say, "How ya like me now?" I nod to you all.
